Get Started:

Thanks for your interest in going on the 2024 Family Journey Campout! Please read below to learn our application process. Space on our trips is limited; we usually have more applicants than we have space for. Due to our funding, we prioritize families living in Washington State, though we do accept applicants from other states when possible. Turning in an application does not guarantee a spot on the trip, but getting your application in early helps your chances. Contact us at any time with questions or for help with the application. (Email/Phone)

Trip Dates:

  • Trip 1: Saturday, June 22nd - Monday, June 24th 2024

  • Trip 2: Saturday, July 13th - Monday, July 15th 2024

Application deadline: Sunday, April 14th

How to Apply:

We want this application process and preparation to be easy. We are ready to answer any questions. Here are the steps and what to expect:

  1. Review the information on our website, including the FAQ’s.

  2. If the campout seems like a good fit for your family, submit the application. Space is limited. Get your application in as soon as you can.

  3. We will begin to process applications on April 15th, 2024 and we will reach out shortly thereafter to talk about the next steps.

  4. We will schedule a short Zoom call to mutually determine if the trip is a good fit at this time. We provide you more in-depth information on the campout, answer questions you have, and learn a bit more about your grief journey.

  5. After this meeting, a team at Wild Grief will put together groups for each trip that are a good fit together based on ages of children, who died, how much access to support your family has, and where everyone is on their grief journey. We generally have more applicants than we have space for, so we put care into creating as cohesive groups as possible.

  6. If you are accepted into the program, we will follow up with more details and forms to fill out. A couple of weeks prior to the campout, we will all come together (families, grief guides, and other Wild Grief volunteers) for an online orientation. There you will get a feel for the group and get any remaining questions answered. If you are not accepted into the program we will direct you to further resources.
