Join us on our adventure out of daily life and into the wilderness at the beautiful Skokomish River. We will immerse ourselves in nature and with kindness and acceptance we support one another to be with our emotions and our own experiences of grief. This is a beginner friendly hike. We will hike 4-5 miles and our skilled hike leaders will set a pace that accommodates the group. This is a free event and open to all ages.

What to wear and bring?  Wear shoes with good grip and pack yourself a lunch, water, and your favorite trail snacks. There is no shelter so we will likely be sitting on the ground for lunch. You may like to bring a hat and/or sunglasses. Hiking poles are great if you need a little support. We can help with gear if needed.

More details: Shortly after you register, we will send info about transportation and carpooling. If you have a medical condition you think we should be aware of, please let us know in advance, or if you have any other concerns. Wild Grief hike leaders are trained in leading hikes safely and are certified in wilderness first aid.

What’s a grief hike? Every grief hike begins with an opening circle, an acknowledgement of who is here and who we are carrying in our hearts. Then we walk in silence for 10 minutes. Soon the group morphs and changes, forming small groupings or solitary walkers.  Conversations can be deep or light, mixing the here and now with our shut away places. And there are times of walking with another in silence. We acknowledge that each of us is somewhere in our grief journey and are welcome. After our lunch break and there is another invitation to share as a group. We end with a closing circle.
